Carry a good poncho, rubber boots and gloves to protect yourself from dirty water and possible infections, as well as a waterproof bag and cover for your personal belongings. Know the evacuation routes in your area and have a detailed map handy in case your GPS or mobile phone fails. Listen to local authorities via emergency radio and follow their instructions. Stay alert to changes in the weather and possible evacuation orders.
